Training the Vocal Athlete: Pedagogical approaches to optimise vocal fitness and wellness

Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd November, 3pm – 6.30pm both days.

BVA@home online course presented online via Zoom – event recordings will be available to attendees for two months

A weekend event hosting the authors of 'The Vocal Athlete’, Wendy LeBorgne, Voice Pathologist and Singing Voice Specialist and Marci Daniels Rosenberg, Speech-Language Pathologist and Clinical Singing Voice Specialist.

 

Dr. Wendy LeBorgne is a sought after voice pathologist, speaker, author, and master-class clinician regarding vocal wellness and vocal athletes. Dr. LeBorgne actively presents nationally and internationally on the professional voice with over 100 presentations on vocal wellness and vocal athletes. Her 20 year career as a voice pathologist and singing voice specialist includes serving as the clinical director of two successful private practice voice centers (ProVoice Center, Cincinnati, OH & BBIVAR, Dayton, OH) both evaluating and treating patients with vocal injury.

Dr. LeBorgne holds an adjunct professor position at Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music as a Voice Consultant caring for the voices of the actors and singers at CCM as well as teaching undergraduate vocal pedagogy, a new doctoral level commercial music pedagogy course, and a new course entitled “Vocal Wellness for Vocal Athletes”. She completed a B.F.A. in Musical Theater from Shenandoah Conservatory and both her masters and doctoral degrees from the University of Cincinnati in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Original peer-reviewed research has been published in multiple international journals and she is a contributing author on multiple voice textbooks. Most recently, she has co-authored The Vocal Athlete text (Plural Publishing) and workbook. She maintains an elite private studio (ProVoice Consultants) and continues to perform professionally. Her patients and private students currently can be seen and heard on radio, TV, film, cruise ships, Broadway, Off-Broadway, national tours, commercial music tours, and opera stages around the world.

Marci Daniels Rosenberg is a singer, teacher, author, researcher and a speech language pathologist at The University of Michigan, Vocal Health Center. A Voice and Singing Specialist, Ms. Rosenberg has worked clinically to rehabilitate injured voices for almost 20 years. She teaches workshops, masterclasses and lectures internationally in the area of vocal health, performance voice, managing vocal injuries, and application of kinesiology principals to voice training and rehabilitation. She serves as the on-site vocal health consultant for University of Michigan Department of Musical Theatre. Ms. Rosenberg is guest faculty at The New CCM Summer Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah. She is co-author of The Vocal Athlete, second edition (LeBorgne & Rosenberg, 2021) and The Vocal Athlete: Application and technique for the hybrid singer (Rosenberg & LeBorgne, 2021; Plural Publishing). She served as the vice-president of the Pan American Vocology Association and remains very active with this organization. Marci maintains a private voice consulting studio for professional performers and teaches a series of online workshops.
