Mark De-LisserMark De-Lisser

Mark De-Lisser is currently one of the best known and most sought after choral directors in the UK.
Mark’s love of choirs began as a child, conducting his first performance aged just 15. Following his passion, he went on to study at Colchester Institute and subsequently attended Central School of Speech & Drama, graduating with an MA in Voice Studies, and thereafter obtaining a PGCE in Music Education from the Institute of Education.

Mark is the proud musical director of award-winning ACM Gospel Choir, who were semi-finalists in the BBC’s Last Choir Standing in 2008, and winners of the Urban Music Award for Best Gospel Act in 2013. The choir have since recorded three studio albums, and regularly perform at a range of public, private and corporate events, bringing a fresh slant to gospel and contemporary staples.

Mark’s experience includes working with multiple celebrities, such as Jessie J, Cee Lo Green and Ariana Grande, to arranging the choir for the wedding of Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and appearing on many prestigious TV shows, such as BAFTA nominated show Our Dementia Choir with Vicky McClure, Eurovision, Songs of Praise – Gospel Choir Of The Year, The Masked Singer, Children In Need and Sport Relief. In December 2019, Mark’s critically acclaimed BBC1 show ‘Meet the Street at Christmas’ addressed issues of loneliness and mental health in detached communities, and the benefits Mark brought by creating a choir. Mark’s own ‘Singology’ choirs have been trailblazing for diversity and inclusion for over fifteen years and The Guardian praised him for helping people to surpass mindfulness and reach a place ‘where you make your heart by singing’.
