Christella AntoniChristella Antoni


Christella Antoni is a Consultant Speech & Language Therapist specialising in a wide range of voice work from voice disorder to performance voice. She is the leading U.K expert in the field of transgender voice. Qualifying in 1995 from UCL, Christella worked for 15 years as a Lead Voice Clinician for both Imperial College Hospitals NHS Trust at Charing Cross Hospital and West London Mental Health Trust at the Gender Identity Clinic. Currently she works primarily in independent practice from her London treatment rooms. In addition, she continues to co-run the Joint Voice Clinic with Mr Guri Sandhu within the ENT department at Charing Cross Hospital.

Voice training on a national level increasingly forms a part of Christella’s work. She delivers voice training courses from both her Marylebone practice rooms and at regional/local level, including the 2-day Vital Voice Course and 3-day ‘Working With Transgender Voice’ course which are consistently rated as ‘excellent’ by attendees. She carries out supervision on a national level, both one to one and group supervision sessions. From 2018 Christella has been a Visiting Lecturer in Transgender Voice & Communication at University College London (UCL). More recently in June 2020 she devised and facilitated an advanced clinical module at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Christella is a former SLT Representative for The British Laryngological Association (BLA) and a former chairman (3 years) of the London Voice Clinical Excellence Network. In addition, she is a current U.K SLT member on the World Professional Association for Transgender Health’s (WPATH). Christella was also the Chairperson of the inaugural European Professional Association for Transgender Health’s (EPATH) Voice & Communication committees.

Christella has spoken widely at conferences and courses nationally and internationally. She has appeared in a range of U.K television and radio broadcasts including: Transformation Street, ITV (2018), This Morning, ITV (2004 - 2016), Steven Nolan, Radio 5 Live (2014), My Dad is a Woman, ITV, (2012), Stephen Fry’s English Delight (2010), The Vox Project, Hosted by Clare Balding (2010), The Voice, (documentary); BBC4 (2008), A Voice Like Honey, hosted by Jan Ravens (2006)
